Zinc Oxide is an inorganic molecule that is sold as a white powder which is insoluble in water. About half of the global demand for ZnO is in the rubber industry where, together with stearic acid, it is used to vulcanize rubber. It is also a component in ceramic glazes, sunscreen, anticorrosive coatings for galvanized iron, plastics, glass, cement, lubricants, paints, ointments, adhesives, sealants, pigments, foods, batteries, ferrites, fire retardants, and first-aid tapes. There are three main means of production of zinc oxide resulting is different characteristics: French Process, American Process and Wet Process.
